Landscape Architecture

Wimberly Treadwell is a professional landscape architect who designs outdoor spaces, balancing both aesthetic and functional aspects. Her work involves planning and creating designs for public and private spaces. She has designed parks, gardens, sections of campuses, streetscapes, and urban plazas. Landscape architects focus on environmental sustainability, ecological health, and the overall user experience of every space.

Wimberly’s practice involves projects of all sizes and scopes. Great projects can be achieved through design work, consulting, collaborating and project management.

Commercial Landscape Design

Great design starts with a strong client relationship. While a commercial landscape is for a specific client, it will be an outdoor space that is occupied, viewed or visited by a larger community. Navigating client expectations, preferences, and feedback is essential. However to design the perfect outdoor space it is critical that how the space will be used and who will use it are the major drivers of the landscape design. For Wimberly, commercial design often involves collaborating with architects, civil engineers, landscape contractors and the client to bring value to the finished project.

Residential Landscape Design

Residential Design is the most personal design process since the design is for a client/owner. Before sketching the first concept, Wimberly takes time to understand the clients’ vision, goals, concerns and budget. With an experienced eye and expertise, she evaluates the existing conditions as the first step in a design process. Properly scoping the work required is next. Advising the client at this stage of the proposed scope and confirming agreement is next before drawing begins. A collaborative start paves the way for a design that aligns with client expectations.

Parks and Public Space Landscape Design

All landscape design in the public realm is undertaken for everyone. The goal for park and public space design is always to maximize public enjoyment and engagement in the space. Design in the public realm is always a collaboration that includes the owner – the municipality, departments of the municipality, the public that will use the space, the scope and budget that will be used for the project, architects, civil engineers, landscape contractors, regulators, commissioners and committees. The most satisfying thing about designing and completing projects in the public realm is to be able to see that enjoyment and engagement in the users of the space when it is completed. Well-designed spaces contribute to community health, inclusivity, and social interaction.
